Laura's Margarita

Tequila....the cause and cure of many problems.  I kid, I kid.  Seriously, though, alcohol is one of those double-edged swords in life- you want to have a drink but then you don't really want the extra sugar, the hangover or sometimes the 2am pizza call.  Oh, college.  As I have been adulting now for a while, I have come to realize that I enjoy having a quality drink, or 2, a couple times a week but that is about all I care to drink these days.

Since I avoid gluten, I don't drink beer.  I mainly drink a little wine, tequila or gin, but can't stand overly sweet drinks.  I have started to become known amongst some friends and family for my margaritas and I love making them this way because there is no added sugar.

A note on the tequila… the best you can afford, silver (or blanco).

It may be pumpkin spice season but I’m not giving up my margarita :)

Serves 1

2 oz silver tequila

1 oz triple sec

Juice from ½ lime

Juice from ¼ orange **

Club soda, lime or lemon flavored is muy bueno

Crushed ice

Fill your favorite glass with crushed ice.

In a glass measuring cup, mix tequila, triple sec, lime and orange juices.

Pour into your favorite glass, top with club soda and lime wedge.

** if the orange is not too sweet, you may want to add a teaspoon of agave syrup.

NOTE: if you want to make several simply adjust recipe for 8 oz tequila, 4 oz triple sec, 2 limes and 1 orange. Share with friends! Don’t drink it all yourself.
